City University

City University was established in 1973 as an alternative to traditional campus-based degree offerings. It offers courses through distance learning, as well as in many different classroom settings closer to where its students want to learn.

In addition to the purely distance learning format, City University offers courses in a more traditional face-to-face format at various sites throughout the world. In the United States there are nine campus-classroom outlets in Washington, one in California, and one in Oregon. In Canada, there is a site in BC, Vancouver. Internationally, there are sites in Austria, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland.

City University has focused on professional studies in business, technology, and management, but it does offer some humanities and social science subjects. Faculty members have appropriate academic credentials, and most are also active professionals in the area that they teach.

There is a generous transfer credit policy. In addition to granting credit from accredited post-secondary institutions, City University will consider giving credit for certain standardized exams, formal training programs, and military training. The university will also allow credit for documented life experience that is relevant to the degree being studied.

Email and the Internet are used extensively for some courses, and more courses are using this mode of delivery every semester. Therefore, it is advisable for you to have a computer, modem, and Internet service.
