In Canada, all legitimate universities are members of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and have also been given degree-granting authority by the government of the province in which they operate. Make sure that an institution meets both these criteria - anything less is not full accreditation. In some province (such as Alberta and British Columbia), the provincial government has given degree granting status to some institutions or operations that are not members of the AUCC. The degrees offered may be good, but they probably won't be broadly accepted outside that provide. Read the institution's literature carefully, and if in doubt, contact the AUCC to verify the accreditation status of the institution you are interested in.
